Plough boy Georgian Fireplace
Thought by some to be a homage to the 'Heav'n sent ploughman' Robert Burns, whose fame as a poet concided with the resurgence of neoclassicalism, it restates the pastoral theme across the whole entablature.
This example was revived for Archerfield, an East Lothian country house which Robert Adam planned to remodel extensively. The original proposals are preserved in the Sir John Museum, London.
